We heard it through the grapevine… and you will hear it here first:
A film that starts out like just your normal marital drama… “Things Heard and Seen” shows a relationship unfolding, dominated by lies, which comes to a more than surprising end.
The art restorer Catherine (Amanda Seyfried) moves to the country side with her husband George (James Norton) and their daughter Franny because he has received a professorship there. What at first looks like a picture book story opens a curtain for the viewer after a short time, through which one can look behind the facade. More and more lies from George come to the surface and ultimately the biggest one turns the former drama into a kind of horror film. The house that George bought so cheaply has a story: In this house the previous owner killed his wife and then himself. And this is exactly what Catherine seems to be able to feel in the house.
