SOUND OF THE WEEK PT. 68 KALI UCHIS “ORQUÍDEAS”

Grammy award-winning artist Kali Uchis marked the dawn of a new era in Spanish-language music when she released her latest single “Muñekita,” a collaboration with Dominican rapper El Alfa and JT from the hip-hop duo City Girls. This musical journey continues with the recent announcement of her upcoming fourth full-length album, “Oquídeas,” scheduled for release on January 12, 2024. Just like “Muñekita,” this album represents a return to the Spanish language. The title was inspired by Colombia’s national flower, the orchid. “Oquídeas” draws from a diverse range of musical influences, including Reggaeton, Dembow, Bolero, and Salsa, serving as a tribute to Kali Uchis’ Colombian heritage.
