“PLASTIC” SS25 BY NATASHA ZINKO – SATIRE IN SILICONE

vor 3 months
Natasha Zinko’s SS25 collection, titled “PLASTIC,” strips back the facade, boldly exposing society’s obsession with body modification. Her satirical take on modern beauty standards explores the literal molding of the body.

The show opened with a conversation between an interviewer and celebrity housewife Timmie Jean Lindsey, discussing her surgical history. “You’re messing with nature,” he says. She replies, “Well, nature messed with me!” This exchange raises the question: Is our fascination with altering appearance innate or a product of ever-changing beauty ideals?

Body modification, once taboo, has become almost expected in daily life. Zinko’s collection reflects how this trend, particularly strong in LA, is now shaping London’s fashion scene.
With 47 looks, the show resembled a clinical exposé of plastic surgery, blurring the line between medical and fashionable. Standout pieces like a jersey dress emblazoned with “INSERT TITS HERE” and 3D-printed breast implants on bra tops pushed the boundaries of post-op body representation. Low-rise jeans featured BBLs in place of pockets, nodding to early 2000s fashion.
Zinko’s humor was sharp. Patient gowns branded “The Plastic ClinicTM” and distorted tracksuits referenced botched surgeries, while liquid silicone turned office wear translucent, evoking surgical mishaps.
Even evening wear was infused with satire. Zinko’s signature men’s boxer briefs appeared as surreal bags and dress details, reshaping traditional elements into unsettling configurations. While her past collections looked to the earth and future, this time, Zinko delves into a culture defined by extreme body transformation.

At its core, PLASTIC asks: Is this a critique of our obsession with surgery or a celebration of it? Zinko dares us to embrace these transformations with pride. Who’s your surgeon?
