There are items that we like, and there are items that we love. There are items we collectively laugh over, bond over, swoon over, and there are definitely pieces we are singularly obsessed with.
We have decided to dedicate a weekly declaration of love to particular fashion and beauty items that may not forever be iconic or relevant, but are currently making us feel some type of way. Enjoy the latest obsessions of our editorial team. Welcome to Fräulein’s Crush!
For this week’s installation, we have cycled back around to our fabulous fashion director Sina. Sina is an incredible blend of hyper-feminine and also tomboy. She shows up to work in her oversized slouchy trousers and boots only to leave the office and go directly to an intense pole dancing class. We stan a powerful woman !!! Her crush comes as no surprise. When we heard of this collaboration, we thought of her and knew she would have something to say on the news.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it was about time for some female power and talent taking on basketball culture. That is why I am celebrating last week’s drop of the Nike x Ambush NBA collection. Yoon Ahn, the mastermind behind the Japanese cult label Ambush as well as the jewelry director for Dior, has transformed her passion for basketball and its lifestyle into some fresh, hot and iconic pieces, reimagining the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets apparel. “ I thought of all these amazing and strong female characters from the ’90s who would come out in men’s clothes, and I wanted to see how we could carry that attitude, but bring in more feminine forms,” Yoon explains.
The project itself began with a conversation about making women feel proud to represent their favorite teams. One of the most stylish piece I have fallen in love with: Yoon’s new interpretation of the archetypal tearaway basketball warm-up pant with contrast-color double waist band: so hot, so fresh. The pants create a seamless uniform, combined with the peeking out of game shorts, form-fitting long-sleeve tops and matching jacket. An ode to the 90’s with a perfect new twist: I’m in love!
Again, Yoon has proven her fearless spirit and contemporary approach of fashion design. In 20008, the Korean-American self-taught designer has founded her lable in Tokyo, together with her husband, hip hop artist and producer Verbal. In 2018, the brand had launched its first unisex collection and is – since then – on a powerful route to the top.”
The collection in its entirety will be released sometime this month, December 2020!
