Collina Strada Brings Animorphs to NYFW

vor 4 years

Collina Strada is known for their creative and about fun approach to fashion and how seriously it should not be taken.

Their newest digital lookbook is no less joyful. Collina Strada’s designer Hillary Taymour partnered with the illustrator of the popular 1990’s Animorphs book series to transform their models into animals: cats, birds, reptiles, a dinosaur, and even a balloon dog. Ever thought about your spirit animal? Collina Strada suggests you to morph into a lemur or chameleon.

The collection is as colorful and bold as the presentation suggests. Layered patterns, mismatched prints, wavy scribbles on sheer fabrics, tie-dye, chevron, and innumerable florals. The young New York brand makes fashion that is first and foremost FUN and refreshing, but sustainable and forward-thinking in their responsibilities as a business at the same time. Designer Hillary Taymour has mainly used dead-stock or upcycled fabrics, pushing fashion production to make a change for the better. In this collection she used a lot of her own leftover materials from past collections.

In the accompanying video, Collina-mals presents a massive and beautifully inclusive cast, with the likes Aaron Philip, Ruby Aldridge, and Jeremy O. Harris, dancing around to an energetic soundtrack by Angel Emoji, capturing the playful spirit of the brand.

Maybe we can see the world slowly awakening after the pandemic as an incentive to bring more life into our clothes, too. Changing the planet and your wardrobe (and your species), one Collina Strada look at a time. No one wants to come out of this year-long lockdown looking dreary, do we?
